ABOUT VAIBHAVI BANSAL

Vaibhavi Bansal is an accomplished international film director and assistant director who works across the United States and India. Born and raised in India, she fell in love with cinema through Bollywood, earned a degree in English Literature and Journalism, and then moved to the United States for her MFA in Film.

Her work spans award-winning short films and international feature films across North America, South America, and Asia. As a first assistant director, she brings calm and structure to complex productions. One of them is Song of Silence, which had more than 100 background performers, including Deaf and non-speaking actors, child actors, and interpreters, and which earned a nomination from the Television Academy Foundation.

As a director, she is drawn to intimate, character-driven stories about love, belonging, and the space between cultures. Her latest short, Gaa Ghar (Home), which she co-wrote and co-produced with cinematographer Zhuolin Hong, is a love story told in reverse, drawn from her own life. It had its world premiere at the Gig Harbor Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Washington Made. It is also an Official Selection of the Oscar®-qualifying Tasveer Film Festival and has been featured in Variety.
